The stop valve is a tool that uses the pressure of the valve lever to make the sealing surface of the valve disc closely adhere to the sealing surface of the valve seat, thereby preventing the flow of the medium. It belongs to a forced-sealing type valve and is mainly installed on the high-temperature and high-pressure steam and water pipelines with a diameter of ≤ 100mm in the power plant pipeline system.The stop valve is composed of the valve body, valve cover, valve cover sealing gasket, valve stem, etc. The stop valve is classified into four types according to the channel direction: straight-through stop valve, direct-circulation stop valve, angle stop valve, and plunger stop valve. It is widely used in industries such as chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, light industry, papermaking, metallurgy, textiles, natural gas, municipal engineering, food, ships, power, etc. The base metal of the valve disc of the stop valve is A42AP material. The welded sealing surface is made by tungsten inert gas welding and is welded with cobalt-chromium tungsten hard alloy wire (Co106).

The working principle is to rotate the handwheel, causing the threaded guide sleeve to rotate, and the anti-rotation block limits the rotation of the valve stem, so that the rotational motion of the handwheel is transformed into the up and down linear motion of the valve stem; relying on the pressure of the valve stem, the sealing surface of the valve disc and the sealing surface of the valve seat are closely adhered to prevent the flow of the medium. For the stop valve in operation, all valve components should be complete and in good condition. The bolts on the flange and the bracket are indispensable, and the threads should be intact without any looseness. Loose bolts on the handwheel should be tightened in time to avoid wear at the connection or loss of the handwheel and the nameplate. If the handwheel of the stop valve is lost, it is not allowed to use a socket wrench as a substitute, and it should be promptly replenished. The packing gland should not be skewed or have no pre-tightening gap. For stop valves in environments prone to contamination by rain, snow, dust, sand, etc., protective covers should be installed on the valve stems. The scale on the stop valve should be kept complete, accurate, and clear. The seals, caps, pneumatic accessories, etc. of the stop valve should be complete and in good condition. It is not allowed to strike, stand, or support heavy objects on the running stop valve; especially for non-metallic valves and cast iron valves, maintenance work such as grease injection during non-production periods, production start-up, and after production should be prohibited.
